I heard the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB software for Vista is on there. That's one of the last pieces I need for my E1705.
-
Can't you simply order the DVD through Dell? I would think that they would ship it to you free, since you are under warranty.
-
Nope.
-
Trying to get Dell to send the software CDs that you are entitled to is like trying to pull out someone flailing around in quicksand. If your call doesn't work, send an angry e-mail to the "Unresolved Issues" department. After a number of back and forth e-mails, they were finally able to send me the MediaDirect 3.0 DVD that "doesn't exist" according to the low-rank customer service representatives. Good luck.

I attempted to do the same thing... Have XP on my E1505, and wanted to upgrade to Vista (laptop is still under Dell WarrantY). Was told by Customer Sales to talk to Tech Support, which in turn sent me back to Customer Service. Rep said that Dell Vista Upgrade Assistant DVD is only available for Vista upgrades purchase from DELL. Suggested I call HArdware Warranty and Support @ 800-624-9896. I did get a $50 credit to my DPA for the hassles... Plan on calling today!
-
Update: I ended up being forwarded to Sales 1-800-372-3355, and after pushing hard enough, rep did gave me the dispatch number for Dell Vista Upgrade Assistant DVD. At one point he tried to tell me that XP and Vista uses the same drivers, therefore I didn't need any CDs. Then he backed out, saying that they are trying to get away from mailing the CDs, and that I will only get this once. I thanked him, and I will probably end up uploading the image somewhere, so others wouldn't have to go through the pain that I went through. Good luck everyone!
-
Hey... tell me exaclty what this DVD (upgrade assistant) does... is to make an upgrade from XP or earlier Vista versions (home basic, etc..)?
If so, I'm waiting your iso uploaded. -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I never had a problem with Dell sending me software, the shippers they use(DHL , Deluded Rancid Lollygaggers) are always a problem.

I was actually told from 'Rali at Outstanding Issues that I will void my 3 year Complete Care warranty if I upgrade my E1705 to Vista because I bought Vista from a 3rd party rather than through Dell. I'm forwarding it onto Michael Dell's e-mail. This is turning into one gigantic joke!
-
Got another e-mail from 'Rali saying Dell doesn't have the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB software for Vista, even though it's on the Dell Vista Upgrade Assistant DVD. Outright lying is getting to be too much. I'm CC'ing all my correspondence to this goof to whoever reads the [email protected] & [email protected] e-mail accounts.

Got some sort of a Dell DVD "for Reinstalling Dell Inspiron Computer Software" (Content: Device drivers & Diagnostics and Utilities) but I am afraid that they didn't send me what I was looking for (Vista Upgrade Assistant DVD).
I can't believe people are so gready that they won't share image of that DVD. It's not like it has Vista on it.... I truely believe that all Dell users are entitled to the copy, no matter if you upgraded to Vista through Dell! Maybe people don't know how to create ISO images of a DVD? Please, someone... Thank You -
Give me a bit of time here. I may be able to do this. Checking into the legality bit but an image is already being worked on. The plan is to get a 1:1 image duplicate going here. I have a Microsoft utility that can do a CRC check on both a file on the drive as well as total contents of a disc.
CRC of Vista Upgrade Assistant DVD: 0xFF99C719
My first image apparently isn't a match so I will have to redo it but be patient. The image size is estimated at 3.35GB. -
Thanks in advance, Shinji!
-
WOW! Just got a call from a guy in Dell Executive Support about the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB software for Vista. He's personally looking into this for me. That just blows me away!
-
Just got the clearance from the admins that it will be ok to do this. I will reply again with the details.
-
I am willing to upload the dvd and I will even upload it to my own webspace. This will be for legitimate purchases only!!!!
Site will be protected with username and password. Please give me one week to proceed with this plan. I will need to image then upload and it may take a few days given the limited timeframe that I have. Thanks for your patience.
Please note that I can understand the legality issues involved so I will be issuing seperate usernames and passwords for each user. Please send me a PM with the request for access if you need this image or you can send me an email to shinji257 at uplink.net and include your NotebookReview.com username. When requesting please sent the following information. Part is used to verify your order and I will be keeping track of these. Order verification is done via the order staus page on DellVistaUpgrade.com
One of the following:
Order Number/Service Tag and Valid Email Address
Image of page on Order Status (censor if you wish)
Forward your Dell Vista Registration Confirmation Email
Then also include:
Username Requested
Password Requested
When I have added your account I will PM you to let you know. That is why I need your username on this website when you email me. Anyone found to hand out their username and password will have their access revoked permanently. -

Shinji, everyone that is getting the Vista upgrade from Dell is getting a copy of that DVD. The people that need it, like myself, didn't qualify for the Vista upgrade from Dell.
-
Well something is preventing from letting me create a proper image. I don't know why it is happening. I am going to keep trying because I want to do this anyways. For those of you upgrading to Vista and did not qualify then I may be able to do it for you as well. Still have to request it from me however. The problem comes around that technically if you didn't qualify then you have no legal rights to the dvds. I thought that at least benna had qualified, ordered it, and the disc was unusable or something. Since it is the drivers you need and certain ones are not available then will a drivers only variation of the dvd be acceptable for those that didn't qualify? Don't worry, I'll include the MD2/MD3 fixer in there.
Oh and the CRC I keep getting is 0x66761BAD so something is not quite right. I think it has something to do with the way Microsoft creates the DVDs. I've tried ImgBurn, IsoBuster, and now I am trying Alcohol 120%. -
Shinji, all I'm looking for is the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB software for Vista. And if there's a patch for MD3 for Vista, that'd be great also.
-
What is this patch for MD3 and Vista about? XPS Support sent me out a MD3 DVD and it runs fine under Vista Ultimate... Is there something I missed? The DVD they sent is labeled as VER A00 so I'm reasoning its the first version of MD3 for Vista...
What's the deal?
I too am also highly interested (like everyone else) in the SB software for vista... Dell is totally lagging on this one... Much longer and I will turn my back on Dell... -
Got a call yesterday from an American Dell tech guy, and he said that they currently don't have permission from Creative to post the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB software for Vista on their website.
-
And to compound it, the upgrade helper DVD they sent along with Vista turned out to be so useless, I threw it out and installed Vista from scratch instead (which worked fine). So my fault on throwing it out if it included the new SB program. Oops...
I don't mind giving Dell whatever info they desire, I just want the program back. Hurry up Dell, / Creative, what's the hold-up? -
I still have the disc and while I have been unsuccessful at making an actual image I will see if I can get that program for both of you. Give me a few more days here. Sorry to see that Dell is unable to provide the program to the public though.
-
That'd be great, Shinji.
-
And, if anyone is wondering where I found out that the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB software for Vista is on the Dell Vista Upgrade Assistant DVD, here's the source:
EDIT: Looking through the comments, I found this posted March 30th:

Now if we could only convince nVidia to provide a GeforceGo driver... LOL - Dell's ver blows
