I was looking at the Inspirons on Dell's site and under the general specs page it claims that blu-ray is an option but I didn't see it listed under any configuration available. Does anyone have an Inspiron with blu-ray?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I've only seen one N5010 with a Blu-Ray drive (it was like a 950 dollar model, 5650, i5). It maybe sold out for now, 15R have a different bezel for optical drives.

thanks for the reply. The blu-ray drive is not a deal breaker for me, but it would be nice to have one.

If you're spending $950 on an Inspiron in any case, whether with Blu-ray or without, don't. Spend it on another computer. I wouldn't even suggest spending more than $650 on an Inspiron.
Inspirons have bad screens (15.6" 1366x768) and for this type of budget you shouldn't be getting an Inspiron or anything with this kind of screen. 1366x768 is a mediocre resolution for a screen this large - it makes text/things big and doesn't let you fit many windows onscreen at once (difficult to multitask) and most 15.6" 1366x768 screens are bad quality.
Look into the Dell XPS 15 with the 1920x1080 display upgrade (never skip this upgrade when buying the XPS 15, the screen is the most important thing) and the blu-ray drive. You can get it for less than $950 in that config. -
Bought a 17r for my daughter and she likes the screen because its big. Your right the res is not as good as you can get, but its not to bad but it could be better. If your picky about it I would go with the XPS.

Thanks for the advice, I tihnk it is wisest for me to go to the XPS line.

Again, if you get the XPS 15, make sure you get this upgrade:
And if you get the XPS 17, make sure you get this upgrade:
The "17.3" HD+ (900p)" screen is junk and the "15.6 in HD WLED TL (1366x768)" screen is junk. So are the multi-touch screens. Make sure you're getting the 1920x1080/1080p screen in whichever XPS you get.
Also there's a $100-off coupon code 932N$0ZCCHWZB9
Edit: it's also worth noting that the XPS 15's 1920x1080 B+RGLED display is a lot better than the XPS 17's 1920x1080 display. The XPS 17's is decent, but some people have complained about the matte finish. Either way, it's better than the default XPS 17 screen.
Can Inspiron 15R or Inspiron 17R have blu ray?
