    Though i havent tried it, people have said on these boards that you can. But remember 32bit os's can only see about 3.2gb ram.

    My XPS M1530 sees 3.5GB of RAM - I have a T7500 and 256MB 8600M GT, FYI. I've heard that things like that can affect how much memory your system sees.

    That really wasnt the point though. The motherboard specs of your laptop state it can have a max of 4gb ram. However, his laptop states a max of 2gb ram. This said, people have gotten that laptop to work with more than 2gb ram.

    Thanks for the input everyone, I guess my purchase of 2x2GB for roughly $30 will serve me well then ;)

    I am thinking about dual booting:
    64-bit Ubuntu
    32-bit WinXP

    That way I can use the full 4GB when using the Ubuntu partition ;)

    Even if the full 3GB or 4GB shows up, is it effective? Does it count toward your computer processing? Or is it all show?
