Can I reuse PC2-5300 memory in my Inspiron 600m which uses PC2100 memory modules?

I just upgraded my newer ThinkPad and have a leftover 1GB PC2-5300 SODIMM. My wife's older Dell Inspiron 600m only has 1GB total RAM (2x 512) and I'm wondering if I can safely pop my 1GB module in place of one of her 512MB modules (bumping her machine up to 1.5GB).

According to some memory-selling website, it says the Inspiron 600m uses DDR PC2100 modules. The leftover from my ThinkPad is a PC2-5300. They are both 200-pin format modules, so they'll probably fit the socket but the other specs appear different. Is this a recipe for disaster or is it likely to work?

    TIA, ~john

Nope. Won't work. The PC-2100 is DDR and the PC2-5300 is DDR2. They have different pinouts. The notch in the module is probably in a different position so you wouldn't be able to insert it anyway. Crucial.com is usually the best way to see what memory any computer can use.

Thanks. I suspected the case but hope is eternal. ;)
