My E1505 is on the truck for delivery and coming today. I have the new Linksys Wireless-G router with MIMO and SXR400.

I remember reading something on here about regular notebook cards not fitting in a Dell laptop????

Will the Linksys SRX400 card fit in my E1505? I don't want to buy it and find out I can't use it then have to pay a re-stocking fee to return it.

That card wont fit int he E1505, as all newer Dell Inspirons lack a PCMCIA slot, they have the newer expresscard slot instead. I believe the base Dell internal wireless card can do B and G

That card won't work since it doesn't fit. Also as foxie said, you'll get an internal card with your laptop which is compatible with most networks, so you don't need to buy an extra card. With the internal card, you can choose to have Microsoft or Intel ProSet manage your network profiles and connect to your network. Intel's software is more user friendly in my opinion, but alot of users do like Microsoft's client better.

The card wont fit, but you will still be able to use the internal Dell wireless to access the router. You will not notice a speed difference when surfing the net unless your internet is over 54mbps, you will notice a difference when file sharing with another computer if it is either a. hardwired to the router, or b. has a srx400 card installed. Otherwise enjoy the tremendous range that router gives you and make sure you secure it, ive seen those go over half a mile in range.

Thanks everybody for the info. The main reason I was hoping to be able to use the SXR400 card was for the increased speed you are supposed to get when paired with the SXR400 router...oh well.

you wont notice it just surfing the internet like I said, but file sharing between two computers that are capable of the srx 400 you will notice a huge difference.
