I've found a good deal on a Studio 1737 but the only downside is the 1440x900 screen. If anyone can point to where you can buy the 1920x1200 RGB LED screen it would be much appreciated.

I'm mostly curious about the cost, of which it probably will be overpriced.

You can probably call dell and see if you can upgrade it to the 1920x1200 and say you found it at this price.

Seeing as I can't find it on eBay, I'd say your best bet is indeed getting it straight from Dell. Yes, it will probably cost a small fortune. If you really need the RGBLED, you should see if it's cheaper to get a unit with an RGBLED already installed or if it's cheaper to buy your target unit and by the screen later. I'd say the former is probably going to be the better choice...

It has the 1440x900 LED screen installed currently, and I really doubt I could transfer the LED array. If I could it would involve taking apart the panel...we'll see.

Can anyone point me to where I can find info about the 1737 screens? Are there known good ones and bad ones (like the infamous grainy/dirty Inspiron screens)?

One can buy them here and here, but it looks like there is only (1) 1920x1200 option and it is CCFL.

From what I can find so far:

No mention which resolution screen it is.

Also, is the cable changeable or is it affixed to the video card? We successfully did a swap on our Inspiron 1720 from 1440x900 to 1920x1200 so it's possible, but I haven't worked with the Studio.

I have an inquiry with Dell Support as of this post.

Here is the response from Dell:
Now...can someone confirm that just a few weeks ago, there WAS an option for this for the Studio 17 and I'm not going crazy? It is gone now. There used to be at least 3 options.
