My primary use for this computer is for mobile audio/video chat via Paltalk, internet browsing, dvd watching and maybe some minor gaming. I think it's set up pretty well for what I want to do with it. Just concerned a little bit about the RAM and the video card. Also, this is my first notebook. If I wanted to upgrade to 3 GB of RAM, is that possible? Looking on NewEgg, they only have 2 or 4 gig kits for notebooks listed. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I would recommend upgrading your hard disk unless you can live with a slow boot. It 7200 is the fastest out there, not to mention it will increase the boot speed 15-25%

My wife just downgraded to a 5400 and it's driving her crazy how long the laptop takes to boot. I think that 25% is rather low. Other than that, your laptop should do just fine.

No, don't change it. Just ebay the old hard drive and buy a new one...should be cheaper than upgrading. I think it should be a SATA drive, but check when you get your lappy. Make sure you make backup disks.

Sorry to ask (a stupid question  )

You mean the Hard Disk could be changed in a notebook? Is it hard to do it? Could it be any brand?

    I also ordered a 5400rpm and realize I made a wrong choice.

    Thanks for help.

It is extremely simple to do on most laptops. There's 2 screws, slide the drive bay out, you'll have to change the mount from one drive to the next. Slide the new one in and you're done.

The only think is you have to have an SATA drive (I confirmed this through my order) and you have to have a 2.5 inch drive. Other than that, they all should work. Never let a hard drive tie you down.

you can get 3 gb of ram by 1x1024mb stick and 1x2048mb stick

2gb stick of ram usually runs in at $130-170

you will need to sell 1 of your 1gb sticks first though

oh ok. forgive my ignorance. I always thought installed RAM needed to be same speed, same size etc... Didn't know you could mix & match. Is it different for notebooks or have things just changed?
