Try going for the Dellcare with the 7%
    actually

Try building it, going to the "Best" configuration, don't choose any care package and see if it offers you a "Double your discount" page

Hey why don't you tell Dell you are a student who also doesn't have enough money to eat...and tell them that you are so poor that you don't have any money to buy clothes...hey maybe they'll give you another 8% off. Worth a try huh??

You know I hate student discounts...why should you get a break anyway? Try paying a mortgage..and bills...and repairs for you home...and still not getting any discounts...Yea I guess you are getting a good deal mate! Enjoy it.

I just priced it out and it was pretty similar when I did the dellcare premium but a bit more expensive
I hadn't noticed the extra battery/HDD speed at first so your deal is as good as I can get

Oh wait I just found a way to make it cheaper
    do this

    1) Go to your schoolwebsite/where the link is to get to Dell education
    2) Go to full catalog/start shopping
    3) Go to notebooks
    4) Inspiron Notebooks
    5) Pick the one in the middle 15.4" widescreen
    6) Pick the Inspiron 1520 all the way to the right for $930
    7) At the select dellcare protection select the one on the very right for none/as selected
    8) The next page should show you two configurations, the one on the right should say "Double your member discount..." in orange
    9) Click customize it
    10) configure your computer then add to cart and it should have the discount applied in the cart

thank you for this lead. it's helpful that you explained it so clearly.

unfortunately though, it ends up being more expensive than using one of the discounted bundles, at least for me.

Go to dell small home business and build a Vostro 1400.

DO NOT UPGRADE the ram and hard drive.

Build a base model with the bluetooth and webcam. It should come out to $650.

This should come out to almost the same specs as you have except its the base dual core.

Take the $700 I just saved you to buy your own ram at your convenience and external harddrive

thus...there is probably no way to get it cheaper than getting it for

    1279.64 excluding tax and shipping?

thanks it advance. I greatly appreciate posts and see actually no point why FOREIGN students that do a study abroad in the US shouldnt be allowed to save money, if they can.

    Thank you guys

paulbommel, stop and listen to daabc.

Go to small business, grab the vostro 1500 and click "SMART VALUE". That will get you a 599 base system with everything you have, except a weaker CPU, 1GB Ram, and 120GB HD.

Go to newegg.com, but yourself 2gigs of ram for 80 bucks.

Go ahead and upgrade the webcam and the battery since those are worth it.

You'll come out to about 800.
