    Hi,

I placed a DELL order and after making payment, the executive assured me delivery within 5-7 days of payment.
Now it has been 2 days, and Order Status is showing that it is under Build (Manufacuring is not complete) and delivery will take 3 weeks.
3 Weeks is really late as i am buying lappy for some one else.
Can I cancel the order and ask for refund from DELL as they are not delivering as per the assurance given to me by the executive.

Speak to them as soon as possible because there is only a certain time frame within which they can cancel without having the machine shipped to you and then shipped back.

You should always be able to cancel the order before its shipped, but keep in mind that the web system used for the ETA is not reflective of anything the salesperson might have done to expedite your order. The last system I ordered showed an ETA 2 weeks out, but I got the shipped notification 2 days after I placed the order. Call them and they can let you know exactly whats going on with the system while the web does not show the detail.

    Thanks for the brief suggestion.
Then, how is the payment refund done after cancellation ?
I called up the sales person today morning itself (as it was non working day yesterday) and asked if he can reduce the delay, or else I'll need to cancel order and buy it locally.
He said that he will try from his end and call me within 2-3 hours.

If it hasnt shipped yet, I am not sure there is a refund needed. They dont charge the credit card until its shipped, but they do a hold on the funds when you place the order. When the order is cancelled, they just release the hold on the funds. Not sure how long it takes the credit card company to release the credit line back to you tho.

The thing is - I have not made payment through Credit Card.
I have made payment through Online Money Transfer from my account to the Dell Bank Account. So money has already been debited from my account.
So the only way to refund money (if they want to do so) is to transfer the money back to my account.
