If I purchase the e1505 with windows mce and the recovery disk, can I buy a hard drive from a place like newegg and install windows mce on it with the disk?

Actually, upgrading the HD and RAM wouldnt vold the warrenty. However, Dell just doesnt supports the hardware.

I am getting my new 80 GB HD to replace my current hd, 30 gb. My laptop still under the warrenty.

To have your notebook serviced by Dell, however, you have to take out your newer HD and stick your old one back, or they won't service it. The same thing goes for RAM too, I think.

    clarification:

ram and hd are considered "user upgradeable" parts and there is no problem with warranty, it's just that whoever you purchased from will not service those parts. as well, it's very very easy to replace ram and hd. each should take way less than 5 mins to do.
