    Hey guys

I have bought a dell in the past and now have an acer Desktop.

I have just bought a Dell XPS M1530

Now my question is .. and please do not get offended but...

I have been keeping an eye on the M1530 threads, and others that pretain to it. And it seems a lot of people have returned, replaced and almost smashed through the front window, the screens and the motherboards ect.

And its not just one or two, its hundreds, and thats just people who use this forum.

What keeps you guys loyal to dell?

I have seen faulty workmanship, Faulty screens, wires hanging out of the back, from the threads that I have read.

Is it all bad, or is this a few out of many.

Sure I have complaints about my acer desktop, But nothing I cannot fix myself, but then again it is a desktop.

I know this is not easy but let me point out a few things I have noticed when seeing these posts.

    1. Crap sales and call centre.
    2. Crap customer service.
    3. Crap tech support.
    4. faulty goods.
    5. missing stuff from the box.
    6. Crap software that comes with the computer.

I have not had a problem with the old dell desktop that I had, But it seems like dell is selling laptops and desktops to the general public and skimping wherever they can, and hoping and praying thay the lame does not complain and return.

Is it me or is dell still trustworthy ?

What do you think? Are they still worth thousands of pounds, dollars, rupees, euro's, ect..

Personally, I haven't had any bad experiences from Dell, or at least any that I can't find a reason for.

I have an XPS m140, and the case quality is bad, along with the battery longevity, but I can attribute that to it's price. The computer was cheap, and I still got more out of than I paid for.

Support wasn't terrible from my perspective, and honestly, most things that I've read most of the major companies are the same way.

Yup. Dell done right by me, even if their lame 90 day warranty on my previous (refurb) system ran out just before my battery and integrated RAM conked out. :p

Remember too that you'll probably get more people to post about complaint rather than praise on certain subjects.

I'm partial to Dell cause of the perceived value and well.. the XPS M1330 is just so dam Sexy! She's the chick at the bar that you don't need to have beer goggles on before you take her home :)

You have to also remember that this board contains a minute fraction of actual consumers. For every 1 person that is having a problem there are 20 others that are having none (just an estimate).

I know on my 1730 I had probems with it and even living in Alaska they had replacement parts installed in 3 days. Not to mention after two weeks of hassling Dell they replaced my laptop with a brand new one with 8800s in it becuase they told me bad information about the upgrade program...at no additional cost to me.

I can't speak for everyone, but so far I am happy. Not totally thrilled but happy.

The design of this laptop is fantastic, its the execution of it that is in question.
If you get a good one, you'll most likely love it. If not, then thats when the headaches begin...

I had a good experience with my first Dell pc ... even though it died on me In 2006 I bought a Optiplex GX 150 from 2001. I ran it as a server until August of 2007 ... I had 4 hard drives in it. 2 off of a SATA card and 2 on the IDE interfaces hooked up via power splitters. It was always running at 100% CPU usage. It did a lot for a few months - TV Tuner, media center (played my music, watched movies, DVDs), server duty. Shut it down one day and after that everything got set to the onboard IRQ USB and it never booted again. A few months after this died, my gateway suffered a Power supply failure. After replacing the power supply in the gateway the motherboard went kaput.

I wanted to replace it with a small form factor Dell, but couldn't find one on Ebay for the right price and run all my hard drives in external enclosures. Decided to go with gateway

When my IBM laptop died I went to Dell first - why? 1) Their website is easiest to navigate, 2 - Dell Outlet. Bought my 1520 out of Dell outlet for $550 ... not a bad price.

I'm thinking of replacing my Thinkpad (now that it has died again - battery failure) with a 14.1'' Dell laptop ... but this will be a year or two from now.

I think that clearly more people are satisfied than not. people dont usually go on the forum saying how happy they are with their DEll. They come to vent and get advice on dealing with a problem.I own 1 desktop and 2 laptops, there have been a few minor problems but nothing that wasn`t sorted out with customer service. There was a problem for me understanding some of the cs people on the phone, I started using on-line chat for support and that solved that problem. Maybe I`ve been lucky, but for now I`ve got no complaints.

People who have issues usually are more vocal about it rather than those who have a perfect product. I've owned three Dell laptops and they have been just fine. What I like about what Dell offers is their notebook designs and also their prices, especially the outlet store.

Also as you see the trend to almost complete manufacturing in China, the quality is going to continue to decrease because Chinese parts are for the most part crap.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Dell since making a couple of purchases at the end of last year. I've kind of grown fond of them since we deploy some Dell laptops and desktops at work. Working with their support personnel for the few issues some of our users have experienced has been great.

I have had very little trouble dealing with Dell for any of my personal purchases through them which include:

    DJ 20gb
    Axim x51v
    Dimension 9150
    2 x 19" Digital LCD Screens
    Inspiron 640m
    2 x XPS m1330
    1800MP Projector
    1201MP Projector

Any time I've had an issue, the resolution has either met or exceeded my expectations, and I will continue to purchase Dell products based upon these positive experiences.

I also work for a company who uses Dell for 90% of their equipment purchases and I have had similar positive results dealing with hardware issues.
