Suppose I buy a Dell 830 today and in the coming July 4th there will be a better deal. Can I call Dell for a partial refund? If yes, what is the time limit?

    Regards,
    David

I was told that I could, I'm still trying to recover my $177 price difference. No luck as today.

    FrostKnight,

Told by a Dell person? You tried? How is your experience?

    Thanks
    David

Long time Dell user, planning to switch T61, but tired of Lenovo shipping and other stories and the hype. Now back to debating myself which one is good for me, T61 or D830...God please help :)

So far, its a pain in the ass. One rep tells me that it's fine, the other tells me no. During the whole situation, I've managed to snag a screen shot of the D630 when it was on sale a few hours ago. I've sent the image to both reps by e-mail and I'm still waiting for a response (they aren't there at midnight, only in the morning).

Lol, I would do it if I were you. Any saving is good :)

Not quite sure you can find any refund policy like that from Dell's site. If you have that, it might help. Info from CSR is not reliable. Oftentimes, differnt people say different things. It might be the case that one who said yes eventually say sorry I am wrong. You would go nowhere.

    Best luck!

In my experiences, they will not adjust a price...but they can throw in a little something extra for the value difference such as an extra battery or external Hard Drive, or something like that...

If they change the price of a product and your order has not yet been shipped, all you have to do is call in to cancel your order, then reorder so that you get the cheaper price. Changing the price of an order is a huge hassle and they usually have to cancel and replace your order anyways.

    Forte,

You are right in that canceling a unshipped order is much hassle-free.
Do you happen to know of anything or have expereinces of calling Dell to adjust price ,say, 10 days after you recieved your laptop?

    Regards,
    David

This link to the Dell website might intrest you. Dell Price Policy

I suggest you call Dell customer care and tell them about this link. I am sure they will change their tune.

Poop, so much for that. I've also been waiting for the past 3 days for a response and so far, nothing.

What a let-down, especially after having been told multiple times that they would match the difference.

    Thanks for the great input!

Things are complicated and this link doe not address all issues. What if I used a 10% coupon today (suppose it will expire tomorrow) and the price of my laptop drops on July 4th? Can I still apply the 10% coupon to July 4th price?

I would guess that the Policy only applies to a price drop that Dell initiated and not on things such as coupon codes. For instance, originally they had a $200 off a 1499 laptop and now they have a $350 off a 1499 laptop would fall under this policy. Then again, it never hurts to try.

Also, call them directly with things like this. Correspondence via email can take a significant amount of time and there is a higher chance of them ignoring you.

I think it is hard to get Dell to adjust prices after the product has shipped. However, you can probably get them to give you something like an upgrade or coupon if you are still inside your return period.

Does anyone have a number that I can call them? I've tried e-mailing with little luck, same for their online chat tool.

I called their business line since I purchased a D630 and the number is 1-800-284-3355. They seemed willing to help me get my price adjusted and told me that my account should be credited the difference in price by Friday. They also gave me a matter number in case something did not go correctly.

    I'm calling them right now...

EDIT: And it seems like I might get my $80 refunded. Let's hope this holds true.

I just wanted to keep you updated on the status of my price adjustment. I recently recieved an email stating my price adjustment has been processed and was sent to my credit card company.

Just tell them that you want the price difference back. Keep in mind that you can always return your laptop within 21 days--if there is a significant difference, you can just return this one and buy a new one if DELL refuses your request.
