I am running on a 64 bit and 3gbs of ram. Its suppose to utilize your ram better and what kind of cpu do you have? Provide us with your rigs specs

Also 64 bit OS might blow up your cpu so i would be careful :) Just kidding

Yes, 64-bit Vista will run with 3GB of memory. If you have any Core 2 Duo processor, it will be 64 bit compatible. The main advantage of a 64-bit operating system is the amount of memory it can address: a 32-bit system can use 2^32 bytes of data, which is exactly 4GB. This is why a 32-bit OS will not recognize more than 4GB of memory. 64-bit systems can recognize 2^64 bytes of memory, which is beyond terabytes, amounts of memory that don't exist yet.

The other main advantage is double the memory bandwidth, meaning that for a natively 64-bit encoded application, it can process twice as much data as a 32-bit system.

The minimum requirement for 64-bit is 2GB of RAM. I ran Windows 7 64-bit on my Dell with 3gb of RAM. I didn't have any problems.

That's a little on the warm side, especially for idling. My T9500 processor rarely idles above 40 degrees...

Download HWMonitor and run that. Tell us what that says for your CPU and GPU temps.

Those temperatures look more reasonable. Still a bit on the toasty side if you're just idling on the desktop, but nothing dangerous. If it doesn't happen in Vista, then you probably do have a driver issue. Download the latest graphics driver for your machine. What laptop do you have, and what graphics card?

I have the Dell 1555 and Intel graphics media accelerator 4500mhd. The latest driver make it even worse than the old one ( the picture i took was with the latest driver, with the previous version, it didnt happen like that ). So what should i do now? Will it be fixed with the final Windows7? Should i go ahead and order Windows7?

Did you get your driver directly from Intel or from Dell's driver page?

You may want to try getting the latest ones for your operating system from Intel directly; Dell may not have the latest drivers. For reference, the last time the ATi graphics driver was updated by Dell for the Studio 1535 page was in 2008. :/

I think that folder will help in running older 32 bit programs on the 64 bit OS..

ipkonfig is right; it's for 32-bit applications. The regular Program Files folder is for natively 64-bit apps.
Let it install in the one it decides for you. 64-bit apps will automatically default to the Program Files folder, everything else will default to Program Files (x86). I'm not sure how the magic behind that works, but it does work.

thanks MasterShroom, i have installed and it worked perfectly untill the Windows Update asked me to update the Intel Corporation driver update for Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - Pre-release WDDM 1.1), then it happened again, even worse. This is driving me nuts. Please help, is it just me? or everybody is having the same or similar problem?

Reinstall the drivers I linked. If it asks you to auto update again, just tell it not to.

That shouldn't have anything to do with it; it will just ask you to turn off stuff like transparency, smooth menu transitions, and stuff like that. It's only really an issue if you're running a machine under the minimum specs for Vista, like a Celeron single-core 1.3GHz with 256MB of RAM.

Generally speaking, 32-bit programs install in x86 and 64-bit programs in Program Files. But it really doesn't make a difference where a program is installed.
