So I decided to get a replacement. I've called 3 times, one guy told me to send pictures that never responded. Disconnected off one call, and I'm on the phone with the third guy right now.

None of them seem to know of this grainy screen problem at all, this is getting annoying.

You could try an online chat as well, and send a link to that thread if they have any questions...

If your still within the 21 day grace period just demand a screen replacement, thats what i did. Or if you arent you should still be able to get a replacement out of them.. tell them you arent happy.

Tried to downgrade my monitor to an anti-glare, I am pass my return period so I wasn't able to do that (which the lady explained I would have to return my order and then reorder another one with the screen I want). But I can however, get the same type of monitor replaced, now I just gotta hope I don't get a grainy POS again.

Why are you only noticing the "grainy screen" now? If you do infact have a grainy screen, you would have noticed it within the 21 day return period. The screens just don't turn grainy.

Wow.. I really feel bad for you guys, I thought they would have fixed this by now. And to think, I wanted to send my LG screen back just for the Penryn processor.

Good luck to all, don't give up!

Rarely played with it or touch it until school started. Didn't notice or care about it that much until I had to stare at it for long hours, my fault really. Let's just hope I get a better model in my replacement.

Is it grainy just when you use the internet?

Tell them you have light leakage problems

Dell doesn't consider a Grainy Screen to be a defect of the Screen, but a problem with the end-user's eyes...

For the record, I've returned a total of 4 M1530s to date and am currently ordering my fifth. (Actually, it worked out pretty well because now I can get a Penryn.) In my experience, most customer service people either do not know about the "Samsung grainy screen" or at least will not admit to it. I had a tech replace my screen (with another Samsung) and he actually told me that he saw "no problem" with my original screen and it was glittering like I had thrown glitter on it.

However, do not despair. You do not need to play any games like other people are telling you about "this is what you tell them ..." All I did was say, "look, I purchased this XPS for almost $3000. The screen is not satisfactory to me. I would like to return and reorder it." It is simple and they do it. Only one time did I get hassled about it and it was when I was returning my third laptop. The guy told me flat out that Dell didn't want my business but he'd be happy to take the return. So I returned it to him, hung up, and reordered with someone else about two seconds later.

If you are having problems and are OUTSIDE of the 21 day period, then you may have issues. Probably you can still get a tech to come out and replace it, but you probably cannot return it for a replacement at that point.

Yeah that option to return it gives you more leverage that afterwards as they force you to settle for refurbs or repairs etc...the screens are hit and miss as much as the quality of the repair guy that shows up..either a surgeon or a backdoor hatchet job... they will throw some coupons at ya ...I guess everyone has their price and that will pacify some but the thing is you have to be happy and we pay mucho jack for these things... the peeps here are awesome in assisting us "lay people" on the ins and outs of these things...good luck...

I've had the same problem. Phoned up twice and the tech claimed to know nothing of the grainy screen issue and was unable to help (thats after wasting half an hour of my time trying to reboot it into safe mode and lots of other time wasting procedures to see if he could fix it).

Actually went to look at a Sony Vaio today just to see if I wasnt being paronoid after reading everything on this forum but mine is definately grainy whereas the white on the Sony was solid.
