So far so good with my new D820!
BTW, I just wonder if anyone there has tried to use a cable lock with D820.

Today I tried with my 2 or 3-year old Kensington cable lock (I couldn't remember the model name), but found that it doen't fit into a security cable slot on the left side of D820. Compared to the slot of my Thinkpad T41, for which I have had no problem with the said Kensington, D820's slot is a little bit deeper, so I cannot turn/rotate the lock with a key after attaching it.

Any success story with a cable lock for D820? If so, what's your cable's brand and model name?

    Many thanks in advance!

I'm using a DEFCON cable lock with my D820, wasn't sure at first why there was such a price difference amongst various cable locks till I actually went to the store and looked at all of them and seen how the cheaper ones were so thin you could probably cut them with nail clippers.

The DEFCON cable lock also comes with a 4 digit combination as opposed to most others only having 3 digits. In addition to that the locking mechanism goes deeper than all the others, including what it sounds like the one you currently have. The deeper the lock goes the more secure it is and harder it's going to be to just rip out of the side. So the problem your experiencing is actually a good thing because the lock well on the D820 goes so deep, deeper than most laptops I've seen.

The DEFCON lock cable also comes with plastic washers so you can adjust the depth the lock fits to any laptop. I found with my D820 the DEFCON washer used is the thinnest one in the package, which means it must be also the thickest lock hole out there.

esoterica, it's you again who answered my question regarding D820, quickly but with more than enough details!

Thanks a million for your suggestion and I'll get the DEFCON at a nearby fry's soon. BTW now I see your point very well; the deeper the security hole is (i.e., the thicker the side is), the more difficult it is to rip the lock out of the side -- how sturdy this D820 is!
