Sorry if this is a simple/stupid question, but I need to order a 1720 today or tomorrow to take advantage of one of their coupons.

My wife will be using the laptop at her new job, all they told her is that they have a cable internet connection. What do I need to order on the 1720 that will allow her to connect to their cable internet?

Nothing, if they have a wired connection she will hook it up via ethernet in the back/side of the laptop. If they have wireless then she will connect wirelessly. So no matter the situation, the laptop will be prepared for it.

Cable (or DSL) internet refers to the way the router connects to the internet and NOT how your computer connects to the router. In both instances, as nizzy pointed out, an ethernet cable will connect your computer to the router (internet).

    Thank You

One other question about my home connection please. I have cable, cable goes from the wall to a modem, then from the modem to a Linksys G broadband wireless router. The router is connected into my desktop and I have a wireless card in my laptop. I want to get rid of my current laptop and desktop and just have the new 1720 laptop. Can I use this card in the new 1720 and still keep it wireless, without the desktop?

    Thanks Again
    Frank

Like stated above, the 1720 is already equipped with a wireless card.

Will the wireless card work without the router plugged into the desktop?
    Thanks Again
