    Hey there,

some software things i noticed about my i8600 that differs from my desktop, even though both run XP pro

    Firstly as the topic suggests...

a desktop habit i had was ro run windows explorer by CTRL+E then i'd hit CTRL+I twice... so get rid of the side bar...

bit what i found in my i8600 is that when i hit CTRL+I my "explorer.exe" crashes or closes??

ie my start bar dissappears.. whats the deal with that?? is it a dell thing?

and while i'm on the topic of dell XP pro doesnt behave like my desktop.... something else i noticed.. when i drag my window larger/smaller, it only does outlined dragging.. ie not dynamic dragging....

so i set it in windows perforamce settings fine, it does it.. but then on next bootup everythign is how it was EXCEPT that one option is set back to outlined dragging.. wtf??

any help would be great, just thought i'd shre my strange experiences...

anyone else find they have had these problems??

    Loz

    1. I'm not familiar with the CTRL+E option to load Windows Explorer. Normally to load Windows Explorer is to hit the "Windows" key + E for it to load. If you have changed the keyboard setup, that could explain why CTRL+E works. Loading Windows Explorer & hitting CTRL+I twice is like double-clicking on My Computer.

    2. Regarding the Windows Dragging, the option is changed under Display Properties -> Appearance Tab -> Effects Button -> Put check into "Show Window Contents While Dragging" box. Don't make the changes in the Performance Settings area.

Hi, yes my mistake, I meant windows+E for the explorer....

The problem was on bootup it would still revert to no show contents while dragging...

i found the solution is to simply uninstall Dell Media Experience...

As for why it crashes windows explorer when i hit CTRL+I i still have no idea...
