for the latitude it's from a t7100, whereas for the inspiron its from a t5250.

Even so, to go from a t7100 to a t7300 on the inspiron is $75 instead of $50. SB is just cheaper than home (same for wxga to wsxga+, $70 for latitude, $100 for inspiron).

ok...there are tons of pricing differences, whats the point? its a completely different laptop. if there was a difference on the same system between home/small business, then that may be something to sneeze at. compare apples to apples.

This is apples to apples. We are comparing the CPU upgrade prices...Same CPUs involved.

What makes me feel really bad about upgrading the CPU is that for the same $175 you pay for the upgrade to the T7300, you can get the T7300 separately for the same price. Considering the T5250 is a crappy CPU that no one wants, Dell is going to make a killing off CPU upgrades in the new Inspiron and XPS models.
