    Hi,
I know this is not really the most appropriate website to ask this, but I'm not sure where to go for simple questions that I can't find answers to elsewhere. I have a new Dell Inspiron 5150, and was just looking at reviews, and many of them said it never (or rarely) runs at it's full 3.06 ghz potential, and instead is almost always at 1.6 ghz. There are a few solutions to the problem, but I'm not even sure if I have that problem in the first place. Where do I go to check what the exact speed my computer is running at at the current time? This way I could at least check if it actually was running at it's full speed, and if not, I could tell when the problem is fixed.
    Thanks
    Steve

    Steve,

Two options...you can click on "System" through your control panel on windows XP and it should tell you what speed you are currently at.

Or, I highly recommend downloading SpeedSwitch XP:

    www.diefer.de/speedswitchxp/

I use this for my 5150, it's a simple program that loads in your system tray (bottom right corner of windows) It gives you a nice easy way of adjusting the power/speed state of your computer, both plugged in and on battery.

You can click on an option in the program to display your current speed.

Let me know how it goes.
