Just got a Dell 1520 and so far everything is working well. Got XP on it with no trouble.. But I was wondering what people are using to control the CPU frequency (speedStep)? With my old 600m I used to use a utility called "SpeedSwitchXP", however I was reading that it as of now doesn't support the core2duo chips and to be honest I really don't like Quickset as my scheme manager.

For CPU control most people either use Notebook hardware control(NHC) or Rmclock. I should tell you that Rmclock is a little harder to configure/use than NHC but it gets the job done.

Get either one and give it a try and see which one you like. :)

I downloaded NHC (the version with the dell fixed) and it looks like a nice utility, but I'm not sure it's doing anything in terms of changing my cpu frequency. When I change from the different CPU settings (Max Performance - Max battery) the CPU clock in NHC doesn't change (it's is always in RED at my maximum cpu speed of 2.0GHZ) and according to CPUID it never changes either. The only place that it seems to change is in the windows System properties however I don't think that is a very reliable place to confirm cpu speed. So does anybody with an Dell 1520 have this working? Also, are their anymore suggestions other then rmclock and NHC? thanks
