    I was just wonderig is there a progam i can download to control he clock speed of my core 2 duo, i know it has the speedstep feature but i want to force it to not go over say, 1 ghz per core when im on battery. My friend has an acer an he has a program form acer that an restrict cpu speed and it really helps with battery life.

    Notebook Hardware Control will do what you want and its a free program.

    RmClock will also allow you to change the speed and voltage of your cpu. You can get your machine to run at a lower voltage. If it is still stable at that lower voltage, you can get even longer battery life.

    Notebook Hardware works fine, but it's a bit of a resource hog.
