Hey,
I've got a Dell Vostro 1000 notebook with an AMD processor (Athlon 64 X2) and I'm hearing an intermittent high-pitched buzzing noise coming from the base of the notebook, which I imagine is CPU whine. I haven't heard much of this issue being prevalent on Dell notebooks using AMD processors. I've had the system board replaced, but the issue is still present.
Is anyone else having this issue and/or have any ideas as to how it can be resolved?
Thanks.

i have the 1000 also, i haven't noticed any noise though. sorry i cant offer more help.

I've had 5 Vostro's and a Inspiron 1501 and I have never heard the so called CPU whine. I don't deny it but maybe it's because my hearing is not as good as it use to.

Maby its ur imagination. You might hear it and think its worse than it really is because you always listen for it.
-
have you tried swapping processors?

After that I realized it was me imagining things. -
what about the display? that could be off.
