    Greetings!

I'm looking to upgrade the CPU to Q9100 45W just wondering if the BIOS A09 would support it? currently it's has a T7200 34W. I'm looking to convert it to a media PC and server of all sorts and have a Crystal HD installed as well and max out the ram to 6GB

The Inspiron 1520 won't support it, sorry. I know because later socket P Inspirons, 1525 and 1545 don't. They won't boot with it installed. Can the 1520 use 1066 mhz fsb processors? A later stepping X9100 would be the best you could do.

Inspiron 1520 is 965 chipset, so you probably have a T7250 (Socket P) not a T7200 (Socket M). 1520 cannot take a Q9100, it is 1066 FSB, and the power circuitry can't support the quads. You can best get a X9000/T9500, only Core 2 Duo/Extreme dual core.
