CNET reviews are only good for pictures and specs (even specs are sometimes wrong).

Their benchmarks are a joke !, No information about compared systems and no information on how or what they tested! Ofcause there is a link to each system in the benchmark, but that only takes you to similar system they have in their database. For example if you click on the Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz link, it takes you to a page reviewing an Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 13.3inch - 2.2GHz !. What a joke :D

"cant get a high end video card." -crazy dude on cnet
i think the 8600 gt with ddr3 is kinda high end.
i hate cnet. they are sold out. firing reviewers because he gave a bad review to a comp. that buys advertising space from cnet.

The GPU in the M1530 is relatively 'high-end' for the niche the notebook is filling, but it is not 'high-end' by a gamers notion of what the XPS motif originally stood for.

The reviewer is both right and wrong, technically.

Except Gamespot has nothing to do with CNet as a whole. Completely different divisions.

At one time CNet used to be the first place I would go about reviews, etc. Now, they are the last if I consider them at all. Although, some of the videos of the products are pretty good.

I thought these comments were pretty accurate:
The thing that disappoints me about the XPS line is the limited choices in resolutions. I need my gaming laptop to also be a business laptop, so I opted for the less sexy Inspiron.

Why did they compare an obviously higher spec'd Apple to this computer. Of course its going to blow it away.

    Don't the 1530s ONLY come in 1280x800?

they do...but the review units that are given to places like CNET and NBR are hand assembled and have different parts sometimes i'm pretty sure...plus i consider that proof that higher res is coming to the M1530 (although every1 pretty much agrees on that lol)

Gotcha. Too bad I didn't know that before I bought my Inspiron, but then I probably couldn't get what I got for the price I paid so c'est la vie.

$400 for me. Fiance got $500 on hers. We each are getting a $150 GC. Neither of us spent more than $910. The only difference was she got a color, extra 9 cell battery and Intel wireless whereas I didn't get any of those things.

    T7500, 1GB RAM, 8600M GT
1440x900 for her, 1680x1050 for me
    120GB HD, DVD RW, BT

I upgraded her RAM to 2G and mine to 4G after the purchase.
