    CD/DVD Drives disappeared...

    k..well i can't find my cd drive or virtual drives in my my computer thing...and it doesn't detect that i have one..or any of them in...i try using a cd in my real cd drive...but it says that there is no disk entered...plz enter a disk..then i mount an image i've used for a few months now...and it says plz enter a cd...in the device manager it says


    wat do i do now??

    I would check the connection. In the slot and to the motherboard. You can try re-downloading the newest drivers. That is all I can think of right now.

    no...im not on a desktop...k..nvm...i got it 2 work...i jus used system restore...for yestrday

    EXACTLY the same problem arose with my Inspiron 8100. It was strange, I called dell and they informed that the optical drive was faulty and they mailed me a new drive, which is slotted in, XP recongnised the new drive and automatically configured it, the problem stopped then...

    I think USAF meant to check to your drive and make sure it is connected properly. Whether you are on a desktop or laptop, if the connection is loose, XP will not detect the drive.
