    Could always consider a Latitude D420.

    Yeah, I really don't like it as much, though.

    I'm big on aesthetics, but since I can't afford a Samsung Q30+, I was going to buy an X1.

    It makes a lot of sense pulling X1 now, since the deal between Samsung and Dell are almost over. I can't wait until Samsung start sell their notebook here in US! From what I read from Samsung froums, I am pretty positive (depends on price i guess), my next brand of notebook will be Samsung. :)

    I also think that X1 is more reasonable for an ultraportable than D420 though it actually doesn't look as cool as Q30+ (red or blue, haven't seen the silver one). 200g less of weight, smaller size, and more battery life are its advantages over D420. However,higher screen resolution, better performance, and better build quality, and pcmcia speak for D420.
