Just got my 1520 today, I don't know if my screen (1680x1050) is grainy or not. On white backgrounds only, it looks a bit sparkley I guess. Is that what everyone means by grainy?
-
Yes, that's another word to describe it as.
-
I dunno, it doesn't really affect anything. I don't know what to do. I waited a month for the laptop and I don't know if I wanna wait longer, just to get another grainy LCD.
-
Only if it annoys you.
Wouldn't it be more annoying to do something about it, have it take longer, and possibly get even worse problems? -
Yeah I guess so.
-
anyone have some good pics of a grainy screen? that one from the macbook isn't very good.
-
bump .....
-
Here's an extreme example of my old ASUS Z71V which had a 'sparkly' display. Granted this is super zoomed in so it's exaggerates the effect, but you know what it's getting at.

Hmm, mine isn't that bad. But aren't all LCD's like that, from close up.
-
mine's sparkly/grainy.
-
can you take a picture of it, on a white screen. from not that close up
-
if you're willing to wait until tomorrow, yes. my camera is in my dad's possession and he's asleep atm.
-
Alright, just post some pics in this topic ASAP. Thanks.
Also, anyone else with a grainy screen, post some pics. -

Pictures to show the effect are extremely hard if not impossible to take to show the effect. Mine is grainy (have to be very close to the screen though) and I have a close up image and its undetectable, take a look. Note the blobs are just dust/glare

If you are viewing the pics on the screen that is grainy, it will be even more impossible for you to see anything since everything will appear grainy.

I really can't see what you guys are talking about, though I ordered the 1440x900 screen yesterday so I hope I don't even have to worry about this problem.
By grainy, does everyone mean sparkley?
