Buying from Dell Outlet: when should I pull the trigger?

Hey guys - new to the forums and I'm hoping you can help me out.

I plan on purchasing an XPS m1330 from the Dell Outlet. I need the laptop for grad school in July, but obviously it would be nice to get it sooner (my current Dell [700m] is on its last leg, but could hold out a little longer).

I plan on getting the 2.2GHz model with 4GB of ram.

My question is, for you guys who may have recently purchased from the Dell Outlet or have followed pricing on it for some time, do you think it would be better for me to hold off a few months for a cheaper price? How much in savings could I get if I waited?

I do see that I just missed a 15% off Dell Outlet coupon the expired on Feb 1.

I'm also concerned about inventory levels. Earlier this week there was around ~100 m1330's, now there's around 40. Is there a recent coupon or something that I haven't found?

Any advice / guidance would be appreciated.

Dont worry about the inventory. I bought 2 laptops off of the outlet and both times it looked like the specific set of components I wanted was there one day, then gone the next with smaller inventories. And a few times it looked like the inventory dropped so low that I almost gave up. But then again a few days later the inventories jump up again. And lately Ive noticed that the price I paid is almost impossible to get now. So hopefully the price for a M1330 stays the same. The best bet is to look for those outlet coupons and pull the trigger then.

That's what I was thinking too. I'll keep watching and wait till a coupon comes up.

Any suggestions for sites to look for coupons? I check slickdeals.net and spoofee.com almost daily, just wondering if you know of any others that may be worthwhile.

Why don't you look for one with a minimal amount of RAM. It takes all of 5 minutes max to install it. Last time I did it, it took about 3 seconds to loosen the screw, 1 second to pop the old sodimm out, 2 seconds to pop the new one in and 3 seconds to put the screw back in. Simple as that.

I guess it might take longer if the memory is under the keyboard, but the savings is well worth it. Go buy it at newegg or crucial and save a ton on what Dell charges.

dang, I just ordered 1530 yesterday was thinking to cancel it but I cannot find anymore in outlet with WXGA+ configuration, I think they are too popular. Is there any way to apply coupon on already placed order?

I too just pulled the trigger on the 1530... Spent 1259+Tax.

    T7500 (Will be swapping Penryn 2.5 T9300)
160GB HD 7200 RPM, Drop Sensor.
    8600GT (DDR3) SWEEET
    b/g/n
    3Gb
oh yeah, and a BLURAY WRITER!

One very bad thing though. I'm getting the samsung screen and cannot do anythign to change it. :( However, I will bug them to change it to the LG or i'll return it. I don't mind the hassle. Even if it takes the DELL guy coming to my place 10 times it's gonna get done. All in all, I saved 1k over similarly spec'd laptop which is pretty sick.

If your buying a new computer then i 100% agree with you that it is better to get the ram from newegg, but in this case we were buying from the outlet and most of the returned computers that have high end cpu and gpu also have upgraded hard drive and ram.

    the coupon is dead

without coupon I paid 1269 + tax. It's not great but considering that brand new one is $600 more I am fine with it.
