I will be using it for gaming, Vista, and multitasking.

    Hows this:

    Core Duo 2.13 GHZ
2 Gigs Ram pc5300 ( Ill install the ram myself)
    60 Gig 7200RPM HD
nVIDIA Geforce Go 7900gs 256MB graphaics card
WXGA+ Screen ( 1440 max res , I run everything at 1280 so it should be fine)

    Hey Roberto,

That system will be perfect for gaming. I have an E705 myself, check out the specs in my signature. The gaming on my system is flawless, it will definetly be flawless on yours as well. Anyway, congrats on your purchase! The wait is gonna be killer :)

    Justin.

Maybe go with a 80GB 7200 rpm instead of 60GB. I have a 60gb in my E1405 and only a few movies stored on it will take up half of it.

It sounds like you really want this laptop to be your main computer, so I would increase the HD size.. go with the highest resolution lcd you can get, fastest cpu. You can probably save some money by buying your memory seperate. However you want to go all out on all asspects because a) it will be harder to upgrade later and b) being a laptop, all aspects usualy perform a little bit lower then its desktop counterpart, so to replace a desktop, you have to exceed your "ideal" specifications.

yes, thing is tho that I never run anything over 1280 so whast the point of getting UXGA. I also heard that the UXGA is wayyy too bright that it hurts ur eyes. If i got the UXGA I'd have to downgrade the processor to 2.0 GHZ.

    ISnt UXGA Extremly bright?

I mean the WXGA+ on my friends HP Ze4900 Seemed fine..it looked just like my desktop monitor.

you can adjust the brightness. Still if you fail to see the need for the additional pixles now, I am not going to explain to you the ins and outs of interpolation for games/movies/images. More pixles is better, and you cant upgrade that in hte future. You can allways increase font sizes and zoom images, you cant increase your resolution more then your lcd allows.

The screens are sort of a bag of worms with the dells. UXAG is shiny and runs at 1920X1200. Its bright with the lamps way up, just turn them down!

The 1440 X 900 - WXGA+is a better gaming screen as your GPU does not have to push as many pixels in its NATIVE resolution.

Now I've had both. You should try to look at both screens if possible at a local Sams or Cosco if in stock. Keep your 21 day return option open either way through Dell.

These are great machine for what I paid, no problem here :)
