    Hi guys,

I am planning to buy a Dell 6000 but would appreciate your comments on below issues. I am bit confused with couple of options like:

    Centrino 1.6 or 1.7?
80 GB HDD or 60GB Ultra ATA 7200RPM Performance Hard Drive?
    6-cell or 9-Cell Primary Battery?
    64MB or 128MB DDR ATI Mobility(TM) Radeon (TM) X300?

I have made up my mind to go with
    512Mb RAM (1 x 512 Mb)
    SXGA+ display
Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Combination Drive (is this dual layer?)
    Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200 (802.11b/g) 54Mbps Mini-PCI Wireless Card

    I will appreciate your input....

PS: They are selling it expensive here in Australia.

    Thanks in advance,
    Nishant

    100 mhz won't make a difference

60 gb 7200 will make your computer 'scream' (better performance)

9 cells give you about 6h of life

64 v 128 mb video...depends on your apps that are running.

    Dell Inspiron 6000
    1.6 GHZ Centrino (Sonoma)
    WUXGA 15.4" WS
    512 MB RAM
    60 GB HD
    Wireless B/G
    DVD/CD-RW
    9 Cell Battery x 2
    Mozilla Firefox Browser
    ---
    Palmone Tungsten C/WIFI

Definetly get the 7200RPM Hitachi. Often it is cheaper to buy the drive after purchase and upgrade yourself, if you are inclined. You won't notice any difference between the two CPUs.

I know things, things that could get me killed

    Thinkpad T41:
    * 1.6Ghz Pentium M * 768Mb Memory * 40Gb Hitachi 7200RPM * Panasonic UJ-845-B DVD+RW *
