Just been checking out Dell's US site and I've put together a 1530 with not only 1680x1050 res and 3GB RAM but also a 200GB 7200rpm HDD and a ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi® Xtreme Audio Sound Card.....all of which are not available on their UK site...

Could I, in theory, buy this US version quite happily or will the UK catch up eventually......

I want that one.....it comes in about the same price as the spec I want from the UK site

Oh I almost forgot the US site also offers a T7800 Processor, which needless to say the UK doesn't......

Don't assume you can only get what is shown on the UK site. Phone.

The US site will not ship to the UK.

If OP calls up Dell UK,he can get the 200 GB 7200 RPM harddrive,3 GB RAM but definitely not the T7800 processor. And yes the US site will not ship to the UK.

Not sure about the sound card but as far as I know by callling up Dell UK you can only get a WXGA+(1440*900) resolution screen and the WSXGA+ screen is not available in UK yet(if I am not mistaken).

As others have said, phone - you can deffo get the 1440x900 screen and I think the 1680x1050 is also available.
Just gone to the dell uk site and there is an option for a 200Gb 7200rpm drive, pick the £699 one and you can select it.
I don't think the soundcard is available here, but doesn't hurt to ask.

Have you considered a forward-shipping service such as www.bongous.com?

You can ship it to me, and I will forward it to you. By the way, I want Windows XP and the blue color, I mean, I think you should get Windows XP and the blue color.

Does anybody have any experience with forwarding Dell computers from the US to other countries via Bongo?

I think you'll struggle to get dell US to take payment from a UK card/bank account.

Not if you have an international credit card.
You might want to call your bank to "release" or to approve the buy.

I live in Honduras, and I bought mine from the US site.

If I were the Topic Creator, I'd buy the laptop again xD, in other words, get it from the US site if you want to, then just have it forwarded to the UK by any other company as some above posters stated :D.

    Thanks for all the replies

Just checked back at Dell UK and they now seem to offer not only the 1440x900 but also the 1680x1050

    Which is nice......
