    Hiya,

Going to buy a new PC from Dell, I heard from some people that if you order on the phone you can haggle about the price a bit? Is this true or should I just order online and be done with it? Also how easy is it to pay via wire transfer as I only have a solo card and here in the UK they don't allow paypal as payment yet :(

    Thanks guys

Online you may find a coupon code which will give you a better price than haggling would.

I looked but couldn't find any in the UK other than the £30 offer that's already subtracted on the Dell site

There are not many coupons for UK, though in terms of ordering...

There are reps who say ordering over the phone helps your order move along faster than online orders even though it may or may not be a little bit just because its assigned to a sales rep and not in a queue without a rep.

Though take it with a grain of salt.

When I ordered my XPS 420 I told the lady taking my order(By phone) that I was a student in dire need of money. After the 300$ reduction on the 420 clear out sale I got no tax on my PC and another 100$ off.

When I tried doing something similar with the Studio 15 I couldn't do a thing to lower it so I waited for a mystery coupon.

Note: I suggest you subscribe to Dell e-mail newsletter. They send me a new offer every two weeks!

Sometimes you can get some excellent deals through Dell (especially online), while other times the retail stores make more sense. The caveat` there, however, is that systems purchased from Staples, etc., have far fewer customization options. I would have liked a backlit keyboard on mine, but at the time, it wasn't worth handing Dell an extra $150 for it.

I ordered mine on the phone w/Dell EPP, and got a pretty good deal..

I also compared coupons, discounts, etc before the final ordeirng of the 1530 ;) :)

I was happy to order with a *live person*, and someone iwth good Customer Service skills.

    :) :)

I found the lowest price I could online then went to a Dell store and got a better price there by $50 or so. Also, the online package was 'saving me' about $350 but didn't have the chip I wanted, in the store he was able to swap it in and keep the savings.
