Hey all, I'm looking for deals at the moment to buy the new 1420, and I was wondering if this deal is good enough to warrant purchasing a 1420 either today or tomorrow:

Follow the link and select the "Fun on the Go" option ($849), I am considering getting this with only ONE upgrade (a 8400M GS card)

    http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1420?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&s=dhs

    Grand total of ~$1080.

I don't mind waiting longer, it's just that I don't know if better deals will come up or not. So what do you all say? Thanks in advance

i would upgrade to 2 GB of ram if i were you...seems like vista is demanding and if you want aero to run smoothly i would def. upgrade.

They refresh the coupons every Thursday, no worries there.

I went all out on my 1420 (as seen in my specs, minus the Trulife glossy screen) and still made out like a bandit on my price after the coupon. I complained about the wait time and they gave me free overnight shipping. I suggest you do the same to ease the wait time a bit.

I'm probably not going to stick with Vista for long, and if I do, I'll buy the extra 1GB separately.

WOW! You did get a ridiculously good deal! That isn't CDN by any chance is it? Because I forgot to mention that I'm from Canada.

I'd like the larger HDD actually... gonna stick with it. As for the better warranty, I'm not sure it's worth it?

Well it looks like some more money's going to be coming my way, so I guess I will end up waiting regardless! Hopefully more good deals will be coming up shortly for us Canadians!

i've been monitoring the dell deals even after i ordered to ensure i had one of the better deals. so far so good =D

but from the looks of it, it looks like the earlier deals/coupons were better

I just ordered my 1420 :). Had a hard time deciding.. I previously wanted the XPS M1210, but it's discontinued, though I was leaning on buying the certified refurbished one(they have great deals on it). However, there was no 6 months no interest, so I just decided to get the 1420. It was $1320 with the mouse and home bundle I ordered, but the rep said he'd give me an additional $50 off. I got the confirmation on my email with a lot of errors(name, phone number), and the $50 wasn't taken off yet, so I emailed him back. Hopefully he does.
