    Built in microphone for the Dell Inspiron e1705?

    Does the Dell Inspiron e1705 come with a built in microphone? Want to know so I don't have to use a headset when on Skype.

    hi - i'm new to the group, but have the same question you posted about whether the inspiron has a microphone to be enabled to use with skype. could you share info?

    IF it does, I would not use it for skype. IF you use the inbuilt microhpone and speakers you will find that you get some pretty bad echo and quite probably feedback as Windows does very basic (and to be honest rubbish) Echo Cancelation.

    A headset is always the best way to go for Skype, or a USB Phone-style device. You can get special USB Boxes made by Polycom that give you loudspeaker & microphone with very good echo cancelation, however they are relatively expensive, costing around £60.
