Yesterday a manager for tech support told me that once the laptop dispatch has been approved as an order #, the build team is allowed to alter your configuration without notifying anyone. My previous configuration had the following changes:
    • RGBLED screen to a crap 945p WLED
    • No Bluetooth
    • No Leather trim
    • Intel 5300 wireless card to a crappy Dell 1397 or something
My new order now only has a problem with the screen and the lack of Bluetooth.

I cannot believe a team is allowed to do this. I would expect them to notify someone to notify the customer of the availability of products and allow the customer to decide whether he/she wants to wait or change their configuration. This bit is pissing me off really badly about Dell, I hate it when I have to re-order stuff.

This is the first time I'm hearing of these things. When I visited a Dell Manufacturing plant, definitely no one on the floor or the plant manager had the power to change orders. They always had to phone a separate department.

Weird. I have had 2 orders that I had to cancel because too many components were wrong, and this current order STILL has 2 components wrong. I think I'm just going to wait to receive it, then call Dell and ask them to send a tech with the right components.

Well that beats every horror story I have read to date! I must say, IF there is to be a change in hardware components I had better be the one to AUTHORIZE IT! I could imagine a component being replaced with one of greater quality/capability without notice, but never a down-grade without the customers acceptance!

I guess I need to go read those T's & C's again (for the 20th time)...good grief this is just bizarre!!!!!!

I have not mentioned this in previous post, but I am an IBMer and we have a few issues ourselves....and to think we sold our PC business because DELL was kickin' our tails in this space.???

Well all I can say is...if my sexy lady shows up with man parts...she..it is going to learn how to fly real quick!
