My computer has now been in the build stage for about 65 hours, is this normal? How much longer should I give it before calling Dell? And if so who do I call?

if only there was some kind of system where many of the computers in the world could talk to each other and share information and dell was somehow, someway able to use this system of interconnected computers to provide information to the general public on things like how to contact them.

    but that's just crazy talk

it's perfectly normal, that's how long my first one took. If it's not built within 10 days, i'd call.

It's possilble that Dell is waiting for a part to arrive so they can finish your computer. Is there anything that you ordered that had a note about delaying ship time? When I ordered mine, selecting the pink color bumped the ship date by a few days because it's high-demand. I don't think you need to worry too much.

The in production stage includes boxing, which is actually the time given for the tranport from the manufacturing facility in Malyasia to the destination country. The boxing stage is quoted to take about 3 bus. days, so I think you are fine. As Gfresh404 stated, if its been longer than 10 days, then give Dell a call.

Well, lets see, the graphics card said it would and...........I think that's it. Hopefully it's done by tomorrow though so that I have a chance of it being shipped on Monday. Oh, right now I just went to go and build the same computer again and they appear to be short on Panels as well, likely the cause of my delay.

My recent m1330 for work was "In Production" for two weeks. If it's only been 3 days, take some Valium and relax.

Yah! relax, that probably mean it really is being built rather than
them sending you out a dud from somebody else.

Well someone ordered their computer pretty much the same time that I did and their laptop is already in boxing, has been for about a day. Whats the deal with that?

Well its probably because the system you ordered had a component lead time (i.e. one of the items you configured was facing supply issues and hence it is getting held up). In any case you should be recieving your laptop quite soon, so just hang in there!

How long does it usually take to get a part in? I heard in that Dell factory walkthrough that they get new parts every 2 hours.

Did you order your Dell online? I ordered my Dell Vostro 1500 this past Monday and according to the details provided during the customization and ordering steps, it takes 4 days for "building" and 1-5 days for shipping depending on which shipping option you chose.

Dont call Dell unless you are past 10 days I would say.

PS, you can track your order progress from their support page if you have the required info.

They were given to me during the ordering process. One of the pages during your confirmation of order or right before such.

Since I ordered my product Monday, it should have at least been in the distribution center friday. I am thinking they will drive it out either that Friday or this monday. I am expecting it sometime between Wednesday and Friday. I am not 100% sure and have emailed them for the progress of the product. Unlike you, I do not get benefits. Shipping will cost 60+ bucks extra. I can not even afford the 2nd businessday option since the tax was +31 bucks arleady.
