Has anyone had experience with these two notebooks? Is the latitude build much better than the inspirion models? Given the fact that there are never ending "coupons" and so forth on inspiron models, do you think the difference in quality justifies the price difference between comparable inspiron and latitude notebooks, as dell doesn't really discount business models like the latitude?

    thanks

I haven't touch a D620 yet, but I've had a few experiences with the D810. IMO, the latitudes are better built than than Inpsirons. The latitudes are for everyday travel, where the inspirons are more at home use. Yes, this is probably the reason for the price difference between the Inspirons.

The inspirons are good if you plan to do limited traveling. If you want a laptop to take with you everyday, the latitudes would be better for that purpose.

My wife has a latitude and it is definitely more sturdy/solid in feel when compared to the Inspirons. The surface of the latitude is more resistant to subtle scratches. Latitudes are more subdued in color schemes which I prefer over the bright white and silver colored moulding.

Latitudes are heavier when compared to a similar model in the Inspiron line.

Latitude's build quality is better than Inspiron's but Latitude looks dull compared to Inspiron. Also Latitude is more sturdy as Dell makes it 'Road Ready'
