    If a system is in the build stage, does that mean that they have all the parts on hand and just need to assemble it?

    no, it means that they are ready to build it when they get the parts. ...and that can take awhile

    Basically build stage doesn't mean squat about how close it actually is to shipping.

    Build stage means your configuration should be valid, and your payment method was cleared.

    When you are told your order status is the build stage, that means the NEXT stage is the build stage. When your order status is boxing stage, that means the NEXT stage is the boxing stage. It doesn't necessarily mean they have them all, or it is being built at that moment or anything like that...

    There are two parts to build stage that I am aware of.

    First part of build stage is the (Knitting) stage. This is when they gather the parts to be assembled. Then comes the actual (Build) stage when the system is actually built. I believe I read someone else on the forum say that.

    Isn't the build stage after the kitting stage? The kitting stage is when they gather the parts, right? So if it was in the build stage wouldn't they have all the parts?

    Preproduction -> Kitting -> Build -> Testing -> Boxing -> Shipping -> You

    If you ordered a colored laptop though...this is how yours looks

    Preproduction -> Kitting -> Build -> Delay -> Build -> Delay -> Build -> Delay -> Build -> Delay -> Build -> Delay -> Testing -> Boxing (You see hope here) -> Build -> Delay -> Build -> Delay -> Build -> Delay -> Build -> Delay -> Build (this is after you threaten to cancel for the 10th time) -> Testing -> Boxing -> Shipping -> You

    my understanding is that if you ordered a laptop and any part is on backorder, then the laptop wont even be kitted with the components that are there. basically, the laptop order would be set aside and the next order would be considered and so on.

    Look at you pointing out everyone's FLAWS!

    If that's the case though. No wonder the delays are so horrible. Say they get in the delayed parts but another part is on delay you will have to wait through another delay.

    Do they say "Kitting" on the Order status when you call and listen to the recording? I call the number and it says In Production -Build Stage...so am I correct to assume they have already done the kitting?
