    Hi,

I am bring my Dell inspiron 1525 to Asia and UK for vacation. I know both Asia and UK have a higher voltage like 220-240. A friend of mine told me my power adapter would automatically take care of the voltage issue, while another friend told me it doesn't.

Can any expert or experience users here tell me, do I need to buy a Voltage regulators/transformer? Or perhaps a surge protector in case?

    Thanks.

it will be fine. the power brick most notebook manufacturers use are international. if you look at the label on the brick, you'll see a rating something like
    100-240v ~ 2.5A 50-60hz

i know for a fact all dell power adaptors are international

Your Dell power supply should be capable of running on anything from 100V to 240V. They have been making power supplies like this since the Latitude C-Series; that's almost ten years now. A surge protector is good to have regardless of voltage, though.

I've use my Dell Inspiron 710M in the UK, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia and maybe Laos and had no problems using just a power adapter.
