I recently bought a dell vostro 1400 and when I turned it on, the brightness of the display screen is low. I have never had a laptop before, but I have seen alot of laptops and mine seems to be quite dim. Is this just me or is something wrong with my computer.

You can adjust the screen brightness either thru the fn+__ key or in the power options.

Plug the AC adapter in, if it doesn't brighten up then, something might be wrong with you're inverter. On batteries it's normal for the screen to dim, it saves power.

You can also adjust the brightness beyond the fn+up key through the Nvidia control panel. Right click desktop, select NVIDIA control panel.
