I'm just curious as to how bright Vostro 1400/Inspiron 1420 owner's screens are.

I have the SEC4457 WXGA+ screen and would like to know if anyone has compared it's brightness to the WXGA glossy and/or matte screens.

My SEC is grain free and really sharp, but sometimes I think the brightness is a little lacking...

I have the 1400 with the exact same screen and i too find the brightness dissappointing as my friends Sony laptop can be alot brighter. Im thinking of calling up Dell to replace the screen, but then i may get grain :(

Yea. I think I'm gonna go scout some computer stores and see how their laptop screens hold up.

And as you said, I'm leary about calling Dell up because I don't want to get rid of my grain-free screen!
