My cousin has an Inspiron 6000 and the warranty just expired. He had to send ti into Dell for some fixin to which they extended his warranty since it was only 3 days past. But now he has it back and the sound is working fine (that was the nissue) but now the brightness on his screen is stuck (it's pretty dim) and doesn't change when he uses the FN + Up or down keys.
Any idea
-
just update the BIOS from dell.com
hopefully that would change all the settings (not sure) and fix it? -
didn't help.
-
Does your cousin still have the Dell's Quickset installed?
-
is quickset installed/running? sometimes Fn is *****y and won't work unless quickset is running.
-
he said it was running. I just told him to uninstall it and reinstall it. Ill let you know how that works out.
[Edit] Nope, didnt help. -
-
I would try a system restore or reinstall the keyboard drivers. -
-
i would ask him but he's asleep right now and he has a final tomorrow so im not gunna wake him up. i'll find out tomorrow
-
if the fn key is busted, plug in an external keyboard and use scroll lock+up instead.
