Just bought a new netbook (in the UK).
I needed to ask a question or two, so two days ago I logged into the Dell Support Centre. They needed my Service Tag number: The window then said it was invalid.
After a long phone wait, I eventually spoke to a guy who said that "as it was new, Dell had not updated it's information". He said he would fix this and said I was to try in 24 hours.
Today I tried again, only this time the window said that my Service Tag showed that I had purchased the comnputrer "outside the UK", and it would not accept it again.
I bought it direct from Dell in the UK!!!!
I now have a brand new computer but Dell will not give me access to their e-mail or chat support. Their phone lines support is dreadful.
Can anyone tell me what to do?

    Thanks dave

Just wait a week. My Studio 1555 took about 8 days after I received it before the Service Tag would work online. Just have some patience. ;)

    Hi Mastershroom,

Sadly in the UK, patience is not a luxury I can afford:
Having bought it on-line, I am entitled to exchange a product if its faulty or the service is not as advertised, BUT ONLY if I do so within 14 days of receipt.
If Dells service is non-existant, then I will return it.
After all, if anyone buys a new computer they are entitled to expect service from the day of purchase, not have to wait 8 days for Dell to get around to updating their records.

    Cheers, Dave

If there is anything wrong with it, you can call Dell customer service regardless of whether or not the service tag is registered online.
