I ordered a 1530 on Monday afternoon, and when I saw that the confirmation email said the estimated ship date is 08/06/08, my heart skipped a beat. I could have sworn that on customization screen it said "estimated ship date: 07/08/08." Anyhow, I called the automated line today and that infuriatingly cheery voice says, "order XXXXXXXXX is in the boxing stage... the estimated ship date is Aug. 6th." Six weeks worth of boxing? I know there's more to it than putting the laptop in a box, but come on, six weeks? Does anyone know if I should trust them, and more importantly, what's going on?

I did order a 9 cell battery. But if they don't have the battery, shouldn't my laptop be in the "build" stage or something close to that?

    Boxing takes 2 - 5 days.

They don't update the estimated shipping date as it moves along. If it is in boxing, you should have it in a week or so.

They do not update the ESD/EDD even if your laptop is going to ship early. It could be in boxing right now, ship tomorrow, and it will still say that the estimated ship date is in 6 weeks.

I am having the same issue actually. I ordered my Vostro 1310 on June.26/08 and it will be shipped by July.21/08. The dell rep i spoke to said that it was because they were waiting on a shipment of the 9-cell battery i ordered.
