Okay my Ruby Red 1721 has been in boxing since Wed around 1 :pm (maybe sooner) it's still there..... If it ships today which seems unlikely it will spend the whole holiday sitting in some DHL warehouse because they don't deliver on Sat and won't be delivering on Monday because of the holiday....

So I think that by telling all of us that we are in boxing that they just bought themselves another few days.....

Anyone want to place bets on whether dell will be working this weekend?

Guess I won't be recieving it until Tues.... 9/4

I don't know... Mine went into boxing on Tuesday, and I called at 4AM and it had shipped... so, it could very well be on its way!

probably still is in boxing.i dont think it is a ploy because the max days you can stay in boxing is 4.so you still got tomorrow(dell production works on weekend, however dhl doesnt, meanig it will sit there until dhl picks it up)

from what i understand, the boxing stage could involve them shipping a completely built laptop from one of their asian factories to wherever their final processing warehouse is in the US. only at that point is it then marked 'shipped' and sent out to you.

Considering that boxing includes flying your laptop all the way around the world, then no it is not a ploy. Just our inability to come up with better technology than slow airplanes......

I got my laptops three days after they went into boxing. There will be a problem with the Labor Day holiday though. I bet you get it Tuesday! You might want to check with the shipper. You might be able to pick it up at the local distribution center on Sat.

i HEAR YA! I just spoke with a csr and asked how long before my red 1721 was in shipping status and he said it is in boxing. Durrrr, I know that, asked what the delay was and he said the processor. Hmmm, yesterday another rep said the lid, red to be specific. I told him this and he said, after a 2 min. hold, that yes I was correct it is the lid. That's funny, I have seen lots of 17 in red lids going out, just not mine and a couple others in this forum. How the heck can ya box a lappy without the lid,he said it is in production status?!? What? Sigh.....
