Hi! :) I have a dell laptop. The problem I am facing is that everytime I switch on the laptop the display on the LCD screen looks smudged and blurred and after less than a minute it becomes fine. But when I reposition the LCD screen, it again looks tad blurry. What could possibly be wrong with my LCD and if you could help me with the cause of the problem too, I'd be greatly obliged. Thanks in advance.

You need to replace the LCD cable. What model laptop is it? Check eBay for the cable, should be around $10.

Stating the obvious here.. but just in case, you changed to resolution to fit your screen right?

Hi guys, I have a 19" LCD HDTV I am using as a monitor via VGA and I didn't realize it was blurry until a little while ago when my mom got a smaller LCD screen for her computer. Her screen is so crisp and mine is blurry.

Even my brother came up to me and said, "Why is your screen so blurry?" I wasn't aware my screen was supposed to clear... I guess I was just used to CRT monitors. If I'm viewing pictures, it really isn't bad... but the blurriness is quite noticable in fonts and thin lines (and yes, I've tried fiddling with the font settings).

Anyway... I can't figure out the problem. My screen resolution is set to the correct native resolution of 1440x900@60Hz. I have an Intel 82915G/GV/910GL integrated video card (which is detected properly by device manager). Do I need some sort of different driver or something?

I searched on the forums a bit, but I either couldn't find any good answers. One post suggested to make an entry of my screen resolution, depth, and refresh rate in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, but I don't have one. It was an old post anyway.

    Any ideas? Thanks

1440x900 may be native for your laptop screen, but that's not a 16:9 resolution supported by HDTVs. Close your laptop screen and choose 1920x1080 or 1280x720.
