I'm having a lot of trouble getting various aspects of bluetooth connected between my new I6000 and my Treo 650. After a lot of reading on the web, it sounds like there are a lot of issues with the Toshiba BT drivers. Has anyone replaced these and, if so, with what drivers? Anything that works better for connectivity?

You could try using Microsoft's driver for bluetooth. On mine, I uninstalled Toshiba's driver, then did a windows update, and it installed MS default software for bluetooth.

I didn't find one on MS's site but do you know if Microsoft's Bluetooth stack is available as a separate download?

I don't think it is. From what I've read on it, if you unistall your current bluetooth driver, it should detect the bluetooth automatically, and ms client will start running. If it doesn't, then you can run windows update, and it should be in there.

I've heard some users have problems trying to get MS version enable, but I think the problem is occuring because users aren't uninstalling toshiba stack.

What devices do you use with your bluetooth interface?

Bluetooth on my I6000 is bizarre and confusing. I initially had Toshiba bluetooth stack installed and one large BT icon in the task bar. This offered me to select from BT setting like add or start a connection, turn bluetooth on/off, send files. I could not connect via DUN to my Treo 650 despite the fact that this same handheld has been connected to 2 Mac computers via DUN without incident, so I know the handheld is fine. In addition, I was unable to get my handheld (even after it was properly paired with the computer) to connect with PDANet, Liberty Control, or Salling Clicker in any fashion.

I tried unintalling the bluetooth device in Device Manager, but there was NO bluetooth device listed anywhere. I hopened all the lists (+ signs) and nothing. So, I uninstalled the bluetooth drivers from the Add/Delete software Control panel.

After restarting, a NEW and smaller bluetooth icon appeared on my task bar with a totally different list of options when I right click. There is NO option to turn bluetooth on/off but it offered a completely different interface to connect bluetooth devices. I connect my Treo 650 while in DUN mode and it sees the DUN service is available, but won't connect to use it for browsing! I was then able to connect with Salling, Liberty Control, PDA Net. BUT, I can't turn Bluetooth on or off because this icon does not have an option under any of it's setting to do this.

So, as an experiment, I reinstalled the Toshiba BT drivers from a Dell download... dated 14Nov2005, which seem to include a firmware update. After this, I viewed the Device Manager screen again and now there are two Bluetooth devices installed. One says Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator, the other is Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Module. Now, I have 2 bluetooth icons in my task bar with different menus.

Is there a way (or benefit?) to completely uninstalling ALL bluetooth software and reinstall the drivers?

I'm curious, does anyone have 2 bluetooth icons on their task bar? Is this normal and, if not, what do you think it implies if I have 2 icons there?

two bluetooth icons? or one bluetooth and networking icon? I had a bluetooth and networking on mine, but I disable the networking icon. I hate having a bluetooth icon.
