After I removed my bloatware I downloaded the bluetooth software from dell only to find out that it wouldn't install. It gave the following error messages.
I try to install R140135.exe I get "This installer be run on Windows Vista only." If I go to the Win32 folder and click setup I get "This installer be run on Windows Vista only." The problem with is error message is that I AM running Windows Vista that has been updated to SP1. When I try Install.exe it starts the InstallShield Wizard but then just hangs. Then I get a message that says"Please execute "setup.exe" for install or upgrade.
To resolve this issue I looked at the setup file and found out that any reference to Windows Vista is not there.
So to get the program to install I had to go to the device manager and delete the bluetooth devices 'DONT REBOOT" and
then go to uninstall programs and remove the widcomm bluetooth program. This will then ask to reboot; allow it to do so.
Now go to C-Dell-Drivers-R140135 (which has already been unzipped)-3?????-32-inst.exe and your bluetooth will now install BUT it does use some of the microsoft drivers so don't be alarmed when you see this.
ALL OF your bluetooth devices will now work BUT when they are in use your internet will likely be EXTREMELY SLOW to load and it will cut in and out. I am seeking a solution for the latter problem, but if you have to get your bluetooth installed this is the way to do it IF you got the aforemention errors. When I use the dongle the internet slow down does NOT occur and the bluetooth devices work as stated. The internet slow down problem appears to be specifically related to the use of the internal Bluetooth 355 module.
I hope that this helps others that had/have the same problem.
