Hi, I'm having this same problem on my xps m1330 after a windows update. I can't even boot into windows at all... or even boot into safe mode. its stuck at the windows error recovery screen then goes into the bluescreen. I downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage manager onto a flash drive. What should I do now?

pop in the vista disk and go to recovery, either it will auto fix or ask you to restore, same thing happened to me. theres something in the latest update that makes vista go bsod..i think its an update related to itunes, basically turn off updates for the time being..

If you are thinking about reformatting, Do the following:

    1. Boot with your Vista disc.
    2. Format the drive desired, when asked.
    3. After it formats the drive, there will be a button that says "Load Driver". Click it and install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver from the USB drive to that newly formatted drive.
    4. Start the vista installation.

I don't want to reformat or go back to a restore point because I have some work on there that I didn't backup yet.

I'm trying to find out a way to fix it without having to go back to any restore points or reformat. Is trying to install the Intel Matrix Storage manager driver the only way to fix the blue screen issue?

yep. just be happy you dont have to re-load
you wont loose any documents, only programs you've installed since the restore
