Ok so over the past few weeks I have been getting a BSOD a bunch. So instead of trying to fix it I just reinstalled XP Pro. I figured it would just be less of a hassle. So I did got all of the drivers installed and working well. Now I am getting the BSOD again. I was hoping someone could give me some help in solving my problem. The computer is a E1505. This is the error code from the BSOD.

Maybe reinstall the ethernet driver? -
Reinstalled it. Lets see if it will help.
Thanks,

Maybe look hard at your video driver as well. Try the Omega Drivers if you are using a ATI chip.
-
Ok well I just got it again. So the ethernet driver was not the problem. I have also reinstalled the ATI drivers from Dell. As for the omega drivers, I thought they were for over clocking. Witch I have no need for. Or am I wrong.
Thanks,
Adam -
No, they are drivers. They helped my old ATI9600 but you may have other problems as well.
You may want to re-image your drive to start with a clean slate then one step at a time to you get to what happened a few weeks ago? -
I will give the omega drivers a shot. I am not sure what you mean by re-image my drive. As for what happened, for the past month or so the computer had been having a hard time coming out of hibernation. It would simply restart when I turned it back on. This was kind of bugging me as I use hibernation all the time. So then fast forward to last week. I am working on a project and having to run some very complex Matlab simulations. The computer was running for about 24 hours with one of the cores completely maxed out. I had run it so that it would be finished when I got out of bed in the morning and I wake up to a BSOD. And from then I would restart it and could work for maybe 10 min before I would get another one. So I just reinstalled Windows thinking it would be the most simple fix. Anyways that was kind of long. It all may be a moot point as it just crashed again and the Microsoft crash thing said it was a hardware problem. I am running the Dell diagnostic stuff rite now. I will give an update when I have one.
Thanks,
Adam -
Well the diagnostics found no hardware problems. So I guess I will try the omega drivers and see if that helps at all.
Adam -
Can it be a memory problem? -
-
Ok just got another one. So the omega drivers did not work. Rite now I am working on figuring out how to use the memtest thing.
Thanks,
Adam -
i wonder if something got fried. maybe it can't handle 24 hrs straight of max cpu usage.
not to go straight to the worst possible explanation, but i wonder. -
Ya I am kind of thinking that may be the case. I just can't find any thing wrong software wise. Its not the end of the world as I do a have a 3 year warranty. I will just have to go without the computer for a little while. What is the best way to nail down a hardware problem if the Dell diagnostics can't find anything? One weird thing I did notice is there is something wrong with speed fan. I use speedfan to monitor the temps in my computer and before the reinstall I had 6 different sensor outputs. Now I only have 3.
Thanks,
Adam -
That doesn't sound right...check out SuperPI to test the CPU. If something is wrong with it you might get a lot of errors or a BSOD more quickly. No harm in trying.
-
Super Pi did not cause any problems. It also ran it in the same time it has in the past.
Thanks,
Adam -
Call Dell for a replacement . If u tried to figure out by yourself to resolve the problem and it doesn't work, it's probably a defective parts in your computer causes the problem.
- When install dell drivers just install the most nescessary things. Forget about those notebook system softwares, touch pad drivers, dell diagnostic..... make it clean and simple.
- Intel driver
-audio driver
-video driver
-ethernet LAN
-Modem
-bluetooth if u have one
-memory card reader
that's it.
- I prefer Windows wireless than Intel because it connects faster than intelwireless
- You can disable INTEL Wireless services and let windows configure you wireless card, that saves 3 or 2 processes.
- I also disable ATI tray on start up
- read thread for dummy about OPTIMIZE PERFORMANCE ON YOUR LAPTOP in this forum. Clean up random processes in your task manger can prevent BSOD. Eversince I reinstall my system I 've had 3 times BSOD, still waiting for the 4th one if it comes. It's now seems to be stable now.
- my computer now runs pretty clean with 29 processes includes: 3 yahoo widgets 2 firewall antivirus kaspersky, winlogon, cursor XP,windows blinds and other system processes. -
Ya I think its a hardware problem. I just got another BSOD with a new code.
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000000 0x0000001c 0x00000001 0x804FAD30)
according to the article below it is most likly a CPU overheating or RAM. I know it is not a CPU over heating as the computer had been off for like 3 hours and was completely cool. http://www.tweaksforgeeks.com/IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.html
There is a dell service center where I go to school so I will just take it there. Thanks for the help everyone. I will update after I talk to them.
Thanks,
Adam
